About this Event
View mapThe UCSB WIND ENSEMBLE will present its Spring Concert, UNEVEN LANDSCAPES, on Thursday, June 1, 2023 in the Lotte Lehmann Concert Hall. The 7:30 pm concert is under the musical direction of Andy Radford.
Featured in the concert will be the UCSB PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE, which is led by Jon Nathan. Music from this concert ranges from the frantic to the sublime. Blaze, by Steve Rouse, considers the spark of inspiration and musical invention. Gorgeous music from Eric Whitacre’s October, contrasts beautifully with John Mackey’s Undertow, which uses an uneven rhythm to create a pulsing intensity. Ride, by Samuel R. Hazo, tells the musical story of a speeding car trip, similar to Ron Nelson’s Rocky Point Holiday, which sets the mood for a vacation in coastal Rhode Island. Moonscape Awakening by Joni Greene leads us to an unworldly setting, and Cantina Band from John Williams, takes that trip even further.
Please join our talented musicians in this concert of fantastical and diverse sounds.
General ($10); Senior/Military/Non-UCSB students with ID ($7); UCSB students with ID and children under 12 (FREE)
