Get swept away by a stormy tale of magic, revenge, love, and redemption as the Award-winning UC Santa Barbara’s Naked Shakes bring Shakespeare’s mystical masterpiece, The Tempest, to life beneath the open sky.
Pack a picnic blanket and join the UCSB Affiliates for an opening act with Naked Shakes Director, Irwin Appel! Plus, light fare, good company, and picnic games prior to the perfomance.

About UCSB’s Naked Shakes
Naked Shakes is a Shakespeare-focused theater program that performs with minimal props and simple costumes to focus on the abilities of the actors and the brilliant words of the Bard. Since 2006, the mission of Naked Shakes has been to present energetic, exciting, raw, vibrant Shakespeare using the power of the actors and the language. The critically acclaimed, award-winning Naked Shakes has performed at UCSB and transported productions to Southwest Shakespeare Company at Taliesin West in Scottsdale, AZ, the Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles, Westmont College and Center Stage in downtown Santa Barbara.
The UCSB Affiliates is led by a volunteer board of community members and campus representatives passionate about creating innovative and community- centered programming. The goal of the UCSB Affiliates is to build and celebrate connections between UC Santa Barbara and the greater Santa Barbara community. We provide a pathway for community members to learn more about UC Santa Barbara and participate in campus activities. Through our events and newsletters, we highlight exciting campus-community partnerships and initiatives.
