The UCSB Wind Ensemble will present its March 7th, 2024 concert, “Not All Who Wander Are Lost”, at 7:30 pm in Lotte Lehmann Concert Hall.

The concert title is inspired by the Lord Of the Rings trilogy and features portions of Johan de Meij’s majestic Symphony #1, which includes musical portraits of different elements from the Tolkien books.

Besides this glorious piece, the concert also includes “Roma” by Valerie Coleman, and “Arabesque”, by Samuel Hazo, both of which include elements about groups of people in motion or in immigration.

Included in the concert is “Divertimento” by Roger Cichy.  This exciting and beautiful piece pays homage to American composers, Copland, Bernstein and Gershwin, and their explorations into the jazz idiom.

The UCSB Wind Ensemble is comprised of musicians from the UCSB Department of Music, and from the greater UCSB and extended communities.

The concert is directed by Music Director, Andy Radford.
