The UCSB History Associates & UCSB History Department is delighted to welcome youto the first, A Book in Common. The premise is simple: everyone reads one book in common and we gather for a guided discussion as a community of history enthusiasts. 

We know that history matters. In an era of institutional defunding, misinformation, and historical revisionism, the importance of history has never been more vital.  

Please join us to discuss our first book in this series, an illustrated edition of, "Lies my Teacher Told Me". Selected intentionally for the appeal of its format across different corners of our History community and the topics it surveys, we hope it will allow us to open up important questions around truths, lies, historical knowledge, and frameworks of historical explanation in the times we are living through.
