About this Event
Eleventh Annual SciTrek Lecture Presents:
Dr. Francis Su
Math is more than just a way to describe the world. Math is a deeply human enterprise that fulfills basic human longings, and when properly engaged, it builds virtues like persistance and creativity. Reframin math around these virtues offers a way to see math as an intrinsic part of life, and to teach it in a more inclusive way. An incarcerated friend has helped Dr. Su see this more clearly.
Francis Su, an award-winning and prominent mathematician, is the Benediktsson-Karwa Professor of Mathematics at Harvey Mudd College and a former president of the Mathematical Association of America.
Reception immediately following with raffle drawings, refreshments, and hors d'oeuvres.
