Kyli Goodman is a Violin Performance major at UCSB, currently studying under Dr. Pasha Sabouri. She has been involved in music for 16 years, and began learning the violin at 6 years old. Over the years she has been involved with various music performance endeavors such as solo performance, chamber, and orchestral music. Besides the violin, she is also proficient on the piano, flute, and piccolo, holding leadership positions with her high school marching band which won the first place SCSBOA Championship awards consecutively for 3 years straight during her time there (until Covid). In addition to this, Kyli successfully completed the highest level of ABRSM certification in 2019 for both piano and violin, as well as completion up to Grade 5 in music theory. Since then, notable ensembles she has performed with include the Santa Maria Philharmonic, Lompoc Pops Orchestra, and the Palomar Symphony Orchestra. At UCSB, Kyli has been involved with the Chamber Music Ensembles, Chamber Orchestra, and Ensemble for Contemporary Music. In her hometown of San Diego, CA, Kyli volunteers at her local senior center to perform music for the residents, and instructs youth musicians at the community library. She continues these endeavors at UC Santa Barbara through the clubs Harmonic Youth Organization and Crescendo for a Cause. Kyli is the current Marketing Chair of HYO and continues performing at various senior centers in the Santa Barbara area through organization concerts. Through her mentorship with the Crescendo for a Cause organization, she has continued teaching violin at Isla Vista Elementary School and La Patera Elementary School. When provided the opportunity, Kyli also volunteers to perform at and help out with UCSB Music’s Audition Day and UCSB Admitted Students Open House. Outside of performance, Kyli also maintains two jobs on campus related to music: ushering for music events within the department and UCSB library special collections assistant cataloguing the university’s inventory of records and manuscripts. In addition to her musical prospects, Kyli is pursuing a double major in Psychology & Brain Sciences, combining her two passions as an undergraduate research assistant in the UCSB Music Cognition Lab on campus.
